James R. Moyles Sr.

James R. Moyles, 72, of Port Jefferson Station, passed away peacefully on December 7th at the Good Shepherd Hospice facility.  He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rita, and his two sons James (Samoria) and Matthew (Jennifer).  He was a beloved brother to Lucielle, Richard and Lisa.  He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Mianna, Mason, Andie, and Maxwell.  James has now joined his parents Rose and Charles, and brothers Charlie and Joe, in Heaven.

James was known for being the life and energy at any party.  He would often assume the identity of pop icon Michael Jackson, showing off his moonwalking skills and many other sporadic dance moves.  His love for the King of Pop was trumped by his adoration for the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley.  In fact, James was a resident Elvis impersonator, owning over five jumpsuits and an extensive catalog of Elvis music.  His exploits with his beloved karaoke machine earned him the nickname “Jimmy Elvis” and made him a huge hit at bars such as Jonathan’s and at numerous family functions.  Perhaps the most precious performances were the serenading of his grandchildren while wrapped in his arms. 

James’ most admirable attributes were his dedication and perseverance.  A testament to this was when as a young man, James earned a “Blizzard Buster” award for completing his paper route despite severe winter conditions.    He continued that tireless work ethic over his life and career as a model employee until the day he retired from Marchon Eyewear in 2020. 

Above all, James was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He is loved beyond measure and will be missed deeply. His larger than life personality has left a legacy to live in our hearts, filled with endless memories.
