Rose F. Pollera, a native of the Five Towns, passed away on March 12th in her home surrounded by her children. Born in 1923 in Inwood, New York, she graduated from Lawrence High School in 1941. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Anthony G. Pollera (who predeceased her) for 47 years, and was the mother of Claudia Jude Reinhart (William), Deirdre Jude Tunney (William) and Anthony Jude Pollera (Kerrin), and beloved grandmother to Mark William Reinhart, Leah Rose Tunney, Shannon Kathleen Brandow and Clare Marcella Tunney. She is also survived by her sister, Ella Cascardi and numerous nieces and nephews.
After retirement from Hewlett-Woodmere School District, Rose and Tony moved from Woodmere and settled in Mt. Sinai, where they had spent many summers and created many wonderful memories.
Throughout her lifetime, Rose's love of family and friends was evident in all that she did - always available to lend an ear, send thoughtful notes, host great dinner parties, and create celebrations that are still talked about. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy lives on in all of the lives she has touched.
Family will receive friends Wednesday 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, Setauket, NY. Funeral Mass Thursday 11 AM at St. Louis de Montfort Church, Sound Beach, NY. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY.
