In Loving Memory of Keith L. Lockwood
Keith Louis Lockwood was born and raised in Bellport N.Y. on April 20, 1954 where he lived with his mom, dad, five brothers and sisters. Keith had many accomplishments in his life, including becoming an Eagle Scout. His father-in-law once said,”now that I know you're an Eagle Scout, I trust you even more with my daughter.” He was a fire service captain in the Bellport F.D., he took flying lessons and got his FAA Student Pilot Certificate. He studied at Suffolk Community College and then received his Bachelors Degree in Business, at Dowling College. He took more professional development classes at Hofstra and UCLA.
Keith was in the airline industry for over 40 years. He knew everything about airplanes and what made them fly. He worked at Grumman with his dad and with his wife's brother-in-law, who of course, later became his brother-in law. In the airline industry he worked in sales and marketing and later on became president and CEO of an airline industry company in California. He got his dream job working for American Airlines a few years ago. His wife Betty, and their precious pups had quite a few adventures, moving to Alabama, California, Florida, then back to California, and settling down last year in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His career took them to all these places. Keith had a passion for cooking and was a gourmet cook. He was a wonderful baker, making his own wedding cake, and for other family members as well. Actually making cakes, at one time became a side business. He also enjoyed canning many different things. He loved his two “pups”, Krystal baby, his baby girl, and Shauney, his buddy, so much so that he built a sidecar for his mobility scooter to take them for rides. They were his babies. Keith loved his family and extended family, but never considered them extended, just family. He was the “cool Uncle”to all his nieces and nephews, His brothers and sisters called him, Kid, Wudda and Dr. Lockwood to name a few. Betty's family called him Keifer/Uncle Keifer. He loved all of them so much. Keith was the most kind and generous man. He did so much for his family and friends over the years.
Keith is survived by his wife Betty of 39 years, his sister, Kathy, his brother Kevin and wife Marie, his sister Karen and husband Bill, his brother Kenny, sister Kelly and husband Ronnie. Also, his big extended family, with lots of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, his many nieces and nephews, and his great nieces and nephews. Keith will surely be missed by all.
