Tribute

Karen Jerzembeck 10/11/44 - 8/13/2020

Karen was a true New Yorker.  She was born and raised in Brooklyn and lived on Long Island for nearly 50 years.

In addition to raising her family alongside her late beloved husband Herman for the 37 years they shared together, Karen was a certified RN and received her nurses training at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.  She also worked for the Longshoremen's Union before becoming a caring nurse at a private doctor's office in the local Three Village area for over 20 years.  She was an active member and committed usher for the 11:30 am mass at St. James Church in East Setauket where she always found spiritual strength and guidance.  Back in the day, Karen was an avid and successful bowler. She was Secretary/Treasurer of the Tuesday Morning Early Birds Bowling League in Stony Brook, NY and it was a major passion of hers.

She had a vast array of interests and hobbies.  Her vibrant, charismatic personality showed itself in her love for excitement throughout her entire life.  In her younger days and beyond, she loved time out with her family at Coney Island or any amusement park riding roller coasters and jumping on the parachute for a true rush of adventure.  She was an outstanding cook, and always found new ways to spice up a meal watching her treasured shows on the Food Network.   Karen loved games of chance and was always up for a day out at the casinos sitting at her favorite slot machines and enjoying the company of those around her.  One of her greatest passions was singing and dancing to 1950's and 1960's music.  You could play her a song from this genre and she could positively 'Name that Tune' in under 10 seconds.  She was a devoted baseball fan of the New York Yankees and she loved New York Ranger's Hockey.

Karen was a loving mother, sister, Aunt, Godmother and friend.

She will be greatly missed by all.
