Joseph William Lynch Jr.

With unspeakable sadness, we say goodbye to our father, grandfather, brother, neighbor, and friend, Joseph Lynch.

His life, influence, energy and passion are inextricably linked to all who loved him and were lucky enough to share time with him.This beautiful soul of a man loved nature and our planet intensely. A true adventurer, Joe took to mountain climbing, hiking, scuba diving, birding, camping, and paddling with vigor and energy. Wherever he went in the world, he shared that passion for adventure with family and friends. A remarkable human being with a charming and quiet demeanor, Joe was fascinated by science and how things worked. A physics teacher, and an avid backpacker, he explored, traveled, and lived life to the ultimate fullest. He will always continue to inspire us, console us, protect us, and make us laugh.

Joe was an award-winning competitor for several years in a row at the East coast Ward World Championship Wildfowl Festival, a member of numerous local environmental task forces, a member of the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK), and past President of the Wading River Civic Association.

Joe is predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Krietsch Lynch, and by his parents, Joseph William Lynch, Sr. and Carmen Thomas Lynch. Surviving him are his daughters, Kristine Burns and spouse Thomas, and Jennifer Romonoyske and spouse George, as well as his granddaughters, Ava Romonoyske and Grace Burns. Joe is also survived by his brother David, and sister-in-law Francine Lynch, as well as by his devoted partner, Elaine Maas.
