John Keaveney

Our father, John James, was born in Glenfarne, Cornacloy, Co. Leitrim, Ireland. Dad spent

several years working in London and returned to Ireland to care for his ailing father before

settling in the United States. John met and married Eileen Fitzgerald in 1958. Mom went to God

in 1989 after battling breast cancer. After retiring from Liberty Lines, Dad spent a great deal of

time in Ireland caring for his family homestead, out on Long Island helping in the care of his

granddaughter Brianna, or working on our home in the Catskills (his Ireland away from Ireland).

He enjoyed “puttering around the garden”, reading and crossword puzzles. He is survived by

Michael, John Jr. (Stella), Kevin (Crystal), Brianna and Theresa (Brianna’s mom). We will dearly

miss his smile, easy going manner and kindness. If you wish to honor Dad, in lieu of flowers, a

small donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital would be wonderful.
