We will always remember John for his warmth, infectious laugh and devotion to his family. John dedicated his life to science and has made significant contribution to the literature. His conviction that EECP helps patients with a variety of malaise is backed by evidence and his tireless and passionate promotion of EECP is admirable. As chair of the department of Medicine at Stony Brook (Vincent), we are extremely gratified for John's gracious donation of the EECP machines for use by our patients, which are still fully operational to date. John will be missed.

Dr. John Hui was a great mentor and beloved friend of ours. We were deeply saddened that he has left us. We have wonderful memories of working on EECP together and sharing time with our families.

Dr Hui’s lifelong commitment and dedication to EECP therapy has benefited numerous patients worldwide. Without his leadership, EECP therapy and awareness would never be as successful as it is today.

We will forever cherish our friendship and the good times we spent together with John. His smiling face and hearty laughs will always be in our memory.

With our affection and deepest condolences.

A gifted scientist, "a financial genius" (John's own words), a devoted friend, a passionate human being as well as a loving husband and a fiercely protective father...
you will always live in the endearing memory of those who were lucky enough to benefit from your unique wisdom, profound kindness, child-like sincerity, and unconditional love. Smooth sailing, John!

To us, John is a big brother figure with a warm heart, tender kindness, and generosity. In 1986, we arrived Stony Brook desperately looking for an apartment, after hours of exhausting searching, finally as sky turned dark we had a luck: John answered phone and immediately accepted us into his brand new house. Without John and Yinghe’s kindly help we might become homeless that night. Since then John and Yinghe became our best friends. In more than four years, we lived like one family. Together we shared many memorable times such as enjoying crab feasts and barbecues in summer and hot pots in winter. The most unforgettable is the addition of their baby girl Mingmin. Besides being our best friend John is a great teacher and mentor. He often brought interesting topics and helped us to understand American politics, sports, health care, and various social issues.

John has the deepest love for his two dragon ladies: the big dragon (Popo婆婆), and the little dragon (Gugu姑姑). He proudly claimed that his life would be meaningless without them. John once hold Popo’s teenage picture in Yellow Mountain in China asking “How beautiful (mi美) she is, isn’t she?”. In 2014, when we revisited Stony Brook, John and I walked to Setauket library. Along the way, he talked about his Gugu, from her elementary school years to MBA. He is a loving and proud father. We are shocked and deeply sad to hear John passed away so unexpectedly. We offer our most sincere condolence to Yinghe and Mingmin who have lost the dearest husband and father.

John, we miss you so much, farewell.

Very sad news. John was a great man and a true visionary who will be greatly missed. More importantly, however l, is the fact that he was a kind and generous person who genuinely cared about everyone.

Our beloved Uncle John was the pride and joy of our family. He was the master of positive thinking - was always there to guide us and teach us to see the world in a beautiful way. His passion for life, his love for the family, and his characteristic laugh would stay with us forever. He was also an amazingly fun uncle to have growing up. Though oceans apart, whenever we visited him in New York, he would take us to the zoo, go fishing in Long Island Sound, or try new restaurants all over town. We all love him and miss him dearly.

Mr. Hui was a force of nature- full of warmth, light, love, and always ready with a huge bear hug and a kiss. His incredible love for Ming Min extended to all of her friends throughout our childhoods and into adulthood. I am so grateful to have been a beneficiary of his love for the last twenty years--ever since I was a little girl and came into the Huis' lives. I am so sorry that he has passed but so grateful to have known him. My love and condolences to Ying-He and Ming Min.
