Joan S. Richter

Loving wife of the late James. Beloved mother of Linda & her husband Bruce, her son Daniell, daughter Jeri & her husband Todd, and her daughter Patricia. 

Cherished grandmother of Aaron & his wife Meredith, Zachary, Jonathan & his wife Sara, Nadine & her husband Matthew and great grandmother of Gunner & Carson. 

Joan grew up in Queens and after graduation her family moved to Oakdale where she took a motorboat to work at National Dairy. In 1956 she married James and they moved to Setauket. They were married for 54 years. She later worked at the Dept. of Environmental Conservation as a secretary.

Joan always had a dog in her life since she was born and loved to take walks to the lighthouse with them.  Joan loved the outdoors and appreciated God's creation that surrounded her. She was very active in her church. As the daughter of an NYPD Lieutenant, Joan prayed for the police every day. Joan loved to garden, cook, bake, read, write, and paint. She was working on her life's memoirs.
