Doreen Patricia Jablonski, 67, of Mastic died surrounded by her family on February 1st after a ten year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on November 5, 1953, to Walter and Ann Carey and grew up with six brothers, one sister, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She leaves behind her loving and committed husband of 48 years, Lucian, who cared for her with tenderness and love throughout her illness. Becoming a mom was her greatest goal in life, and she embodied grace and love as a mother to Jennifer (and Darren) Dunn, Rebecca (and Dan) Hughes, Amanda (and Lauren) Clancy, and Jeremy (and Caitlin) Jablonski. She has always been and will continue to be the spunky, spirited, and FUN grandma to her seven granddaughters, Morgan, Annabelle, Abigail, Nora, Rice, Hope, and Quinn. Doreen had an unwavering commitment to her Catholic faith and she lived life with compassion, spirit, and liveliness. She was a natural leader, who brought fun to everything she did, making others feel welcomed and involved no matter what the occasion. People were drawn to her charismatic faith and confidence. She enjoyed teaching young children and new mothers, providing Pre Cana to couples preparing for marriage, volunteering (and volunteering others!), singing in the choir, and leading spiritual retreats for teens; her reach stretched beyond her local community. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, singing, reading, journaling, nature, the beach, and more than anything having all of her children, their spouses, and her granddaughters under one roof for family dinners, milestone celebrations, and frequent family vacations. Her forever friends, siblings and in-laws, nieces and nephews adored her, and many friends called her “Aunt Doreen,” for she made everyone feel like family. Doreen will be missed by all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the many stories that will be shared for years to come. To honor her would be to truly live life, as she was always the first and last on the dance floor! The greatest gift she gave to all whom she encountered was “love, love, love.” Please visit www.bryantfh.com to sign the online guest book. Doreen’s funeral will be held at St. James R.C. Church in Setauket on February 5th at 9:30; the mass will be livestreamed for those who wish to join virtually. Interment will follow for immediate family only at Calverton National Cemetery.
