He left to join the Navy from 1952-1956 and fought in the Korean War. He served on the Intrepid for 2 years. When he returned from his service he finished college at St. Lawrence University. He worked at Grumman Aerospace for 30 years. He worked on The Lem, F14, A10 and EA6B aircrafts. He loved his job! His co-worker, Ralph Brunson, set him up on a blind date with his wife’s sister, Nancy. They went to see the movie Charade. Six months later, they were married on November 6, 1965. They moved to an apartment in Hauppauge. In 1966 they had their first child, Pamela. They bought a house in Port Jefferson Station in 1970 and this became their permanent residence. In 1971 they had their second child, Donald. Donald loved going out on his boat(which was named Charade), fishing, playing guitar, listening to music, and reading. His wife of 58 years, Nancy, will forever be the love of his life. He was a selfless, kind, compassionate, patient and caring man. He had many health issues and never complained!! All who knew him, loved him! Donald was a loving father and grandpa and an adoring husband. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Pamela and son-in-law Artie, son Donald and daughter-in-law Christa, grandsons Tyler and Shaun and brothers Lenny and Woody(predeceased).
