April 10, 1963 - February 25, 2020

Diana Jaensch, 56, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Diana was born on April 10, 1963 in Mt. Kisco, NY to Hans and Elfriede Jaensch. She is survived by her daughter Tyla Jaensch Axelrod, husband Michael Axelrod, sister Kathy Jaensch, parents Hans and Elfriede Jaensch, sister-in-law Kelly Jaensch, brothers-in-law David Woolsey and Steven Axelrod, nieces Kaitlyn Jaensch and Samantha Axelrod, nephews Henry Jaensch and Gregory Axelrod, and her many friends. She is predeceased by her brother Hermann Jaensch.  

Diana graduated from Yorktown High School and earned her Bachelor of Music at SUNY Purchase, after which she began her career as a professional bassoonist, as well as a founding member of the VOX NOVA Wind Quintet. In addition to her performance career, she was a master music copyist, engraver, printer, and publisher. Diana became the Director of Rentals for G. Schirmer, where she worked closely with many world-renowned musicians, composers, and ensembles, including Yo-Yo Ma, John Corigliano, John Cage, Michael Tilson Thomas, Richard Danielpour, Aaron Kernis, Michael Torke, Joan Tower, and Bright Sheng, to name just a few. Diana eventually formed her own company, Long Island Music Engraving Services (LIMES), which provided high quality engraving and printing to the classical music world for many years. She worked closely with her friend and colleague Bill Holab for several decades. Diana was devoted to her family and to her music. 

Diana’s family invites anyone who wishes to share a few words in her memory to do so at the service and memorial visitation, which will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 1:00pm to 3:00pm, Bryant Funeral Home 411 Old town Rd. East Setauket, NY 11733
