Darlene Homire, of Long Island, NY, passed away surrounded by her loving children, Stephen, Desiree, Kaylee and husband Jeffrey. Darlene was 60 years young.

Born in West Islip on Long Island, Darlene was raised in Lindenhurst, NY to the late Wilbur and Dorothy Furrer; she was one of three children.

Her husband Jeff survives Darlene with her children Stephen Carlino, Desiree Twigg, Kaylee Carlino, son in law Casey Twigg, grandson CJ Twigg, brother Thomas Furrer, sister in laws Karen Furrer and Linda Furrer, stepson Brendan Homire, with nieces and nephews, extended family and countless beloved friends and colleagues.

Darlene received her nursing degree in June of 1997 from The University of the State of New York. Darlene’s nursing career started immediately after graduating with NSHOA (North Shore Hematology Oncology Associates), St. Charles Hospital and Mary Haven Center of Hope. Darlene’s then decided to follow her passion added an additional degree from IIN (Interrogative Nutrition) program and became a certified Holistic/Wellness Health coach. Darlene quickly started “Embrace Life” for her health-coaching career. Darlene was published in “New Living” April 2013 “Spring Detox and Cleansing”. Darlene’s passion was to help others by the holistic/wellness approach and with her nursing skills made it a perfect match.

Darlene’s greatest passion was family, being a great mom and one of her most special gifts was being a grandmother (Mimi) to Desiree & Casey Twiggs’s son CJ. That was one of her greatest gifts in life was the arrival of CJ which kept her desire to stay strong and never give up the fight to be with CJ as much as possible.

Outside of family and career, Darlene’s interests were, physical fitness with nutrition and wellness being most important, dancing listening to all venues of music, going to the beach, boating, fishing, SCUBA diving, sunsets, having and caring for the pets in her life, volunteering at New York Cancer & Blood Specialists, Reading countless books on cancer and holistic wellness was a mainstay for Darlene.

Darlene married Jeffrey Homire in September of 2005, lived in East Setauket & Coram NY.
