My condolences to the entire family for the loss of Grandpa Nilsen, that is what I called him. He was full of humor and lots of great stories. 25 years ago I worked for maryhaven as the recreation therapist I needed a Santa Claus for my party. Grandpa Heard it Through the Grapevine and diligently accepted the clientele I served where the developmentally disabled many of them were profoundly affected. Grandpa accepted each and every one of them individually he shall cans he let them sit on their lap they hugged him and loved him he was there almost the whole day probably 6 hours visiting these clients. Always smiling and saying ho ho ho just like Santa. Well I never knew that he was going to be the best Santa we ever had. I had to hire Many Santas after Grandpa and none of them came close to what he did that day. Mind you he volunteered. I will never forget this wonderful man. I saw him with his entire family and grandchildren throughout the years I attended many family functions he was nothing but happy-go-lucky yet had a serious side when needed. I will always remember Grandpa Nilsen. Love Kerri

I am so sad to hear of Uncle Richard passing. My heart is breaking for all of you, especially Aunt Maryann. I am so glad that I was able to come to their Anniversary a few years ago. Sending my love to the whole family. Wishing I was in NY to give you all a hug. Love, Joyce (cousin)

Dad,
You were a wonderful father, husband, and mentor! You raised a wonderful and succesful family, all while scraping along on a butchers salary and working 6 days a week. I want to thank you for always putting your family first, I have the fondest memories of going camping every summer, and seeing all the wonderful areas along the East coast. You lived a rich life, now you are in paradise, you did it right Dad...
Love Tom
